He shoots and scores!

To stay on the cheap beer subject......there was a bar in River Falls that had 50cent taps of Schmidt. It was run by a couple of old men and tended to cater to the older crowd. It was fun to shoot the breeze with the old fellows while sipping 50cent taps.

Also.....an Iron Range (for you New York natives, that is the upper regions of MN, where I grew up) classic....Blatz. You can buy a case of that for about $5. Blatz doesn't seem to be kind to your gut though.

Anyway, on to more important matters. The Penguins announced yesterday that Eddie Olzyck has been named the new head coach. The Great Edzo, as he is referred to around Pittsburgh, has been the color analyst for Penguins broadcasts on Fox SportsNet the last three years. He has absolutely no head coaching experience at any level. He has a very outgoing personality, which will help, but you gotta question the pick. But after listening the press conference, I feel a little bit better about it, but still not totally sold. He said he wants to see more physical and intense play, and the most important thing....he wants the players to go to the net more often. All things that will help this young team. He said he would like to model this team after the MN Wild. Definately not a bad idea!

Getting ready for the last out-of-town grad party this weekend. Thank god! It will be fun, but I'm tired of all the travel. Rented "Old School" last night. Will watch it tonight with a full report next post.

Another weekend, another grad party out of the way!! Two more to go and then my summer officially starts. My summer is booking up so fast. I think I only have a few more weekends left in the summer where I don't have anything going on!

Oh...to my cousin in Iowa and uncle in Rochester:

Cubs 2 Yankees 1! Plus Clemens denied his 300th for the third time. No way did I want him to get it in the friendly confines of Wrigley Field. Also, all 76 bats from Sammy's lockers and six bats in Cooperstown found "cork-free". Had to laugh at former Cubby Mark Grace though. The day after the whole ordeal started, he came out to batting practice with a wine cork taped to the tip of his bat! Almost fell over laughing!

Game 7 tonight in the Stanley Cup Finals. Go Ducks.

On to movies: Am midly interested in seeing "The Hulk". Looks a little cartoony, but when you think of about it, it kind of has to be. The Hulk is 7-8 ft tall and weighs over 1000 pounds so it would be pretty hard to duplicate that with a real actor. Not going to see it opening day, but probably will make it sometime. I've liked all the superhero movies so far, so I figured I would go and see it.
