Well, yesterday I finally got some good news. The MAN is coming back!! Yes, Mario Lemieux, the man who this blog is dedicated to, had decided to lace up the blades for another season. I must say I am completely suprised by this. At the end of last season, he just looked physically and mentally drained. He had stated that he wanted no part of a rebuilding process on the ice and that he would serve the rebuild of the Penguins better from behind a desk. Well, started working out six weeks ago and said he felt so good that he wanted to keep playing as long as he feels good both mentally and physically. At his press conference yesterday, he seemed to embrace the role of mentor to the young kids that Pittsburgh has. I think since the playoffs aren't a real goal for this team, they can just go out and play hockey. The young kids along with a new coach may suprise teams in the NHL. I'm definately excited about watching Mario playing again. He is truely a magician on the ice!
Got to spend all day at the Mall of America with the Webb clan this week. Always fun, but almost eight hours at the MOA is a little bit much, but was fun none the less. Of course the hightlight was racing at Silicon Motor Speedway. Pat and I always make it a point to race when ever he is in MN. I even had Alyssa as my spotter in the car with me. Alyssa and I almost won the first race (finishing 3rd after two computer cars passed us late), but spun out during the second race and finished 13th. The next day, I had to go back to the Mall for a work event. Of course, after that was over, where did I go??? Back to the Speedway for another two races. Finished 2nd both races, being the top finishing human driver in each race. I could get addicted to that real quick. If I didn't purposely avoid the Mall, I would be there all the time!
Lally, I'm not much for fantasy football. I only root for two teams (Niners, Vikings) and can't really bring myself to cheer for players of other teams. But, alot of my friends come to me for advice for their own respective drafts, which I find pretty odd since I don't participate in fantasy football.
I think I'm going to purchase NCAA Football 2004 this weekend. With Madden just around the corner, I figured I would get a warmup of the 2004 series since both tend to have the same gameplay characteristics. Only a few more weeks until the college football season kicks off. Can't hardly wait!
