Cubs win! More on that later........

Spent a relaxing weekend up north. Got to spend some major quality time with my nephew. The kid is growing like a weed. Starting to blabber like a little kid. Can make out some words (I'm "Bike" by the way!). Feed him spagetti, which was more entertaining that anything. After the spaghetti incident, of course a bath was needed. Gave him a bath, which like the spaghetti, was more enteraining to him than anything. His going to be 18 months old soon. Can't believe how fast time is going.

Got to visit my grandma for the first time since she was put into a nursing home. Pretty rough. Although she seems to be with it mentally, she just nods in and out of sleep. This is my last grandparent and it will be hard to let her go, but I don't think it will be much longer.

Went to a Babbitt football game for the first time time in about 7 years. The head coach, who was an assistant when I played, let me watch from the sidelines and help out a bit. Got to do a little coaching, which was fun. Left the game after Babbitt was up 50-8, so that I could go watch game 3 of the Cubs-Braves series at the bar. Mark Prior is a stud!

Anyway, CUBS WIN!! CUBS WIN!! Yes the Cubs have advanced to the NLCS against the Florida Marlins. I'm starting to get the same feeling about the Cubs that I had with the Diamondbacks a few years back. When you have two shutdown, lightsout pitchers in Mark Prior and Kerry Wood, anything can happen. The Diamondbacks did it with Randy Johnson and Curt Shilling so I'm crossing my fingers!! I told Kristin last night that she better write this down.....for the first time in my life, I'm more excited about baseball than anything. Unfortunately, the Twins fell to the Yankees, so my Cubs-Twins World Series will have to wait. But now I'm pulling for a Cubs-Red Sox series. That way, somebody's misery is going to end!!

Saturday is going to be VCR day. We are going down to Rochester for the weekend so I have to tape the first two Penguins games of the year on Friday and Saturday. But check out the schedule for Saturday:

Nascar race at Lowe's Motor Speedway
and (I haven't looked yet) but probably Cubs-Marlins
