I'm going to have hockey overload over the next couple of weeks. Not that I could ever get too much hockey, but it's going to be pretty crazy.
On Friday, Kristin and I are going to go see "Miracle". When I first heard of this movie, and realized Disney was going to be doing it, I thought it was going to be pretty cheesy (insert Mighty Ducks). But more and more people are saying it simply the best hockey movie ever made (sorry Slapshot!). Buzz Schneider, who is from my hometown of Babbitt, is being portrayed by his son, Billy. The St. Paul Pioneer Press has a front page article about Buzz and his son this past Sunday. It was pretty neat. Kurt Russell, I'm told, absolutely nails Herb Brooks. But what I'm worried about is, since it's Disney, if the language will be scaled down. Herb had a little bit of a mouth on him so I'm wondering how Disney approached this.
Saturday Kristin and I will be heading down the the Xcel Energy Center to watch the All-Star practice. All the players in the skills and All-Star game are going to be practicing Saturday morning for a couple of hours. My tickets are right next to the players bench so I'm hoping to have ample autograph opportunities. Right after the practice we are heading the All-Star Fantasy Fest. Basically if you like hockey, the Fantasy Fest will seem like heaven! Games, chances to meet players, and pictures with the various trophies are just some of the attractions. Kristin will have to drag me out of there!!
Next weekend, thanks to my dad, we are spending the weekend up in Duluth for the UMD-UM hockey series. My dad had bought these tickets without telling us for our birthdays coming up. Of course, what is Saturday........Valentine's Day. That's right, we will be spending our Valentine's Day cheering on our respective college hockey teams. It should be a blast, but would have been nice to have discussed it with us. But we'll both have fun.......I think our Valentine's Day dinner will be a late supper at Chi Chi's!!!!!!
