Well, I'm 28, but a 16 year old couldn't keep up with me!!
Like I said in my previous post, my 16 year old cousin Mikey came up to stay with me for five days. Needless to say, I had the stay pretty jammed packed with stuff to do. I drove down to Waterloo, IA on Tuesday to pick him up. Commence late night of Playstation. Got home from work on Wednesday to find Madison had dug a huge hole in the yard! After patching that, we kind of just hung out that night. Commence late night of Playstation. Came home at 11am on Thursday to find Mikey still in bed! Finally got him up and we trucked on over to the Mall of America. Raced three races at Silicon Motorspeeday with Mikey as my spotter. (4th at Indy, 1st at Atlanta, and 5th at Daytona) Had some battles playing airhockey at Jillian's. We got home and grilled some burgers and brats and watched a movie. Commence late night of Playstation.
Friday morning I had Madison wake Mikey up at 6:30am (way to early for a 16 year old!!) as we had to drive down to Mankato for the Vikings practices against the Chiefs. The practices were a blast! Of course the buzz around practice was the play of Brock Lesnar, former WWE wrestler turned football player. Had some nice plays, against third string linemen mind you, but for the most part, looks a little lost. He probably will make the practice squad. He was in the middle of almost every scuffle that broke out between the two teams. Randy Moss looks very sharp. I think he is going to have a huge year now that he finally has a legit #2 receiver on the other side, Marcus Robinson. He hasn't had that since Chris "All He Does is Catch Touchdowns" Carter retired. Defense looked shaky, but the Chiefs have probably the second best offense behind the Vikings. Plus, it's hard to judge when they are running drills and not full-speed game situations. Antonio Winfield will definately help. The only bad thing about going down to Mankato was the time to kill between the two practices. Like five hours!! We went to the local mall and had lunch. We then played more air hockey at the arcade. Both of us broke down and bought official Chicago Cubs hats. We still had time to kill so we bought a cheap football and played catch in the yards around the field. We didn't stay for the entire second practice because we wanted to beat the traffic. We got home around 10 PM, a very long day!
Saturday morning, I again got him up early because we were going to the Twins game that started at noon. We took the new rail system to the Metrodome. Highly recommended! Although the total time with driving to Fort Snelling to park and riding the train is probably the same as just driving to the game, it's well worth it. No looking for a place to park and taking it easy on the way to the Dome. We got home from the game and Mikey just zonked out on the couch for about three hours. I flat wore him out!! He even said so to his mom on the phone! Bought him supper for his birthday that night. Commence late of Playstation. Sunday we got up and drove back down to Waterloo to meet his parents. He had a blast and I'm glad he came. He was my little buddy when he was little and now he's one of my cronies!!
Heading down for Kristin's family campout this weekend. Always fun. Flag football and golf on the schedule.
