Everything is right with the world. At least for a couple of weeks. Hockey is back on!! The World Cup has started. I like this tournament better than the Olympics. It seems to mean more to the players and it showed in last nights US vs Canada game. Mario Lemieux even dropped the gloves! I will say this, the man looks good! He spent most of the summer with a world respected fitness expert and it shows. He's down to 215 pounds and has a hop in his step that he hasn't shown in awhile. With the NHL season in jeopardy, this may be all I get to watch. Tomorrow I'm going to the Xcel Energy Center for the US vs Russia game. I'm pumped! I get to see first hand all the hype behind Alexander Ovechkin, the #1 pick this past draft. I'm meeting another Penguins fan that I've met over the various Penguins boards that I post on. This will make the fourth one I've met over the years! The internet sure makes the world small!!

School, is well...school. I find it a little more interesting now than I used to. Probably because I'm motivated to do as well as possible in order to get out of here. There's a lady in my class who is a director for an aquatics center for the City of Anoka, so I may have a connection. We'll see how it goes.

Today's the day. I'm officially a student again. This past weekend I was kind of in a semi-depressed kind of mood. My time away from work is very precious to me, and now I'm sacrificing a big chunk of it for school. That's less time with my wife, family, pet, hockey, etc.. But I keep thinking of it like this.......next year at this time, I'll have a Master's Degree (hopefully!) and new opportunities will hopefully come around.

Last Call for Rusty! That's what Rusty Wallace's theme will be next year. Today he officially announced that next year will be his last in NASCAR. Alot of people that I know who are NASCAR fans always ask me why how I came to like Rusty. Well, it's quiet simple (and kinda funny). Miller. Yes, as in Miller Beer. Around 1990, my dad was in this kick where he drank nothing but Miller Genuine Draft. He came home with a case of MGD one day, and Rusty was on the box. Being a sports nut, I knew who he was but never really followed motorsports. So I started to pay attention a little bit to NASCAR. But only just how Rusty was doing. I was never really a big fan of NASCAR racing. Like a lot of people, I never really watched the races. I just read the paper for the standings. But like alot of people, I started to watch more races after Earnhardt's death. So like a lot of people, I became an active fan in NASCAR in 2001, but have casually followed it for going on 15 years! Next year I will probably watch all the races since this will be Rusty's swan song. Oh.....mark my words on this........Jamie McMurray will be driving the blue duece in 2006....write it down.
