Well, the election if finally over. Thank God. My choice did not win. I'm not going to gripe about it though anymore. Democracy has spoken. That is what this country has decided, however misled that they are. I'm not going to bash this great country that we live in though. There are two concerns about Bush's win that concern me though. First, I don't like how religion is starting to dictate elections. I read where over 4,000,000 more white Evangelicals voted in this years election than last. The majority of them voted for Bush. That is fine. But they chose to vote for him for his moral (insert religious) values. When asked about the economy, a majority of them said that the economy was worse off with Bush in office, but voted becaue of his moral values. Now I consider myself religious. I may not go to church very often, but I believe in God and hold my faith very sacred. But it concerns me that religion is starting to creep into our politics more and more.
My other concern it this: Now that Bush is officially a lameduck president, he no longer has to worry about the repercussion of not getting re-elected when deciding on his agenda. The next four years should be very interesting.
Anyway.......no NHL hockey yet and I'm starting to go insane. I'm going to have to take some trips up to Duluth soon to watch the Bulldogs to get my fix!!
Mom has to have surgery again. Not a major one, but it still requires six weeks of bed rest in a nursing home in order for it to heal properly. I'm worried about my dad though. Him and mom are kind of each others support system. I think it might help a little for somebody to step in an take care of mom for a bit and give him a break. I think the stress of caring for her and dealing with everything else has put a strain on him and he could used the help. That shoots down our Christmas plans in Iowa. I'm still going to go down the week after Christmas though and hang out with my uncle. He was pretty bummed that our plans didn't work. We were both pretty excited about it when we planned it so I figured I would at least go down and whoop it up a bit!
